Robert W. Tomilson is senior counsel in the firm’s Insurance & Reinsurance Practice Group. He has represented both insurers and reinsurers in arbitration and litigation involving property, casualty, surety, life, health, personal accident, and annuity contracts. These disputes have involved issues ranging from shareholder rights in off-shore reinsurance captives to professional sports disability claims to the propriety of a cedent’s allocation of settlement proceeds on a multi-year policy. Robert has also been involved in domestic and international arbitrations subject to ARIAS, UNCITRAL, ICC, and AAA rules. Prior to joining Thorp Reed, Robert was lead counsel for CIGNA Reinsurance where he managed all aspects of the company’s insurance run-off operations.
